Lynne Neagle: As part of our 'Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales' and tobacco control strategies, we are co-investing, with local health boards, into a number of programmes and interventions that support population health outcomes.
Lynne Neagle: Thank you very much, John, and I know that you are an enthusiastic supporter of parkruns, and I think that they play an enormous role in making sure that we can get people more active and I'm very keen to support them. Pre pandemic, my officials were in discussion with the UK Government, the Royal College of General Practitioners and parkrun UK around a programme to promote social prescribing...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you, Llyr, and, yes, I was really pleased that the men's shed is open again, and I saw on Twitter that you had been able to visit them to celebrate that opening. Officials checked with the health board what the position was in relation to the abrupt closure of the men's shed. I had in fact received an e-mail to my MS inbox about it so was able to alert officials, and we were given the...
Lynne Neagle: We continue to provide significant and sustained funding to support the provision of mental health services. In addition to its mental health ring-fenced allocation, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board will receive an additional £4.9 million of recurrent mental health funding this year to continue to improve mental health support.
Lynne Neagle: Thank you very much for that question, James. This is absolutely a cross-Government issue. As you're aware, our 'Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales' plan is a cross-Government plan, with all Ministers making a contribution to what we're trying to do. Clearly, there's a really important role for education, and we are uniquely well placed in Wales with our new curriculum, with our area of learning...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you, Heledd, and I entirely agree that the world cup gives us a really good opportunity to capture the power and enthusiasm of football to tackle some of the public health issues that we face. I haven't seen the paper that you refer to, but I will certainly ask to receive a copy of it. Just to expand a little bit further on the work that's been going on, as I said, senior officials have...
Lynne Neagle: Officials are in early discussions with the Football Association of Wales to consider how we can take forward a range of programmes through 'Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales' and our proposed social prescribing framework. These programmes will include a focus on physical and mental health.
Lynne Neagle: Diolch, Dirprwy Lywydd. Can I thank Darren Millar for bringing forward this motion for debate today? The number of people in Wales who are now living with diabetes, particularly type 2, is something we all need to be concerned about. The rise in diabetes is a worldwide issue. We only have to look at rates in the US, for example, where over 34 million people now have the condition and where,...
Lynne Neagle: Formally.
Lynne Neagle: Thank you very much for that supplementary, Gareth. Can I take this opportunity to place on record my appreciation of the work that is done by Men's Sheds throughout Wales? I think they play a really important role in supporting mental health and tackling loneliness, and I'm glad that we've been able to support them through Welsh Government funding in the past. In relation to the issue that...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you. Improving the well-being of Wales is at the heart of everything we do, thanks to our groundbreaking Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. Examples of specific actions include the healthy and active fund, which aims to support projects that increase the physical activity of those who are currently sedentary or have very low levels of activity and improve mental well-being.
Lynne Neagle: Thank you very much, Buffy. As you rightly highlight, we all go into childbirth expecting to have a really blissfully happy experience, but, unfortunately, things can go wrong, there can be distressing experiences, and I know that you recognise that, as do I. It's really important that we put support in place. I'm grateful to you, as well, for your acknowledgement of the work that we've done...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you, Janet, and you can be assured, absolutely, that this is a priority for Welsh Government. That's why we made the recurrent funding available, to establish perinatal mental health teams. They are up and running in all parts of Wales. I was very pleased to go and meet the perinatal team in Betsi, who are doing some really excellent work supporting families at what can be, as you say,...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you very much, Delyth, for that important question, and, as you highlight, it has been really difficult to have a new baby during lockdown. I think we all recognise that, and you'll recall that I led a debate in this Chamber as a backbencher on babies in lockdown. So, we are very cognisant in Welsh Government of the challenges. I know that perinatal services adapted really quickly to...
Lynne Neagle: Health boards continue to develop services in line with the Royal College of Psychiatrists' standards for perinatal mental health. This is being supported by additional service improvement funding this year, which builds on our previous investment.
Lynne Neagle: We are committed to ensuring all neurodiverse children, young people and adults receive equal access to assessment and support. We are working with our stakeholders, including neurodiverse women, to make sure that their needs are central in developing sustainable neurodevelopmental services across Wales.
Lynne Neagle: Will you take an intervention?
Lynne Neagle: Did you actually listen to what I said when I explained that we are having a review, a delivery unit review, of CAMHS services in Wales? So, we are actually doing what you've now stood up and called for. Maybe it would help if you paid attention.
Lynne Neagle: Thank you, Darren. As you say, it's not just about the waiting times. I have myself called for there to be more of a focus on outcomes and what happens to young people once they have that assessment. We are currently working on validating the data so that we can provide more public information on access to psychological treatments. But I think what you've just said, really, shows that it has...
Lynne Neagle: Thank you, Deputy Presiding Officer, and thanks to all Members today for their contributions. There is nothing more important to me than improving, protecting and supporting the mental and emotional well-being of children and young people in Wales. I have stated and restated my commitment many times in this Chamber, and I remain determined for us to make the progress needed to transform their...
