The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended, protects wild birds. Under this Act, Natural Resources Wales can issue general licences to control listed species using certain specified methods and for specified purposes. A condition of these licences requires compliance with animal welfare legislation, including the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
