Part of the debate – in the Senedd at 2:28 pm on 26 August 2020.
Thank you, First Minister for your statement this afternoon. I am a little surprised, as this is the first formal sitting of the Senedd, that you haven't chosen to put a formal apology on the record in relation to the exam debacle that happened only a week or so ago now, and I'd invite you to use this opportunity to put that formal apology on the record. In response to my colleague Laura Anne, you say the Welsh Government plan first then execute. It wasn't much of a plan that you put in place to stop a lot of children, teachers and parents suffering a lot of distress because of the algorithm that you used. So, could I invite you to put the apology on the record?
And, secondly, could I invite you to give us an answer as to how you are working with higher education facilities and also FE institutions as to how they will accommodate extra students that will now be chasing valuable places in those institutions? In other parts of the United Kingdom, they've set up special working groups between Government and the educational establishments to help facilitate these actions.
